Food for Thought: A Kuwaiti in Guantanamo

هالكتاب بالذات كانت في قائمة الكتب اللي بقراها من قبل فترة بس ماسنحتلي الفرصة ، والصراحة على الرغم من اعتزازي بلغتي العربية ما اتحمس وايد للكتب العربية لانه الكتاب قلة قليلة منها تجيد العربية باتقان او تسردها باسلوب متقن.

ريم الميع خاضت تجربة زيارة سجن غوانتانامو في كوبا وهو سجن بادارة امريكية ، واهيا اول صحافية كويتية تتمكن من زيارته عن قرب وسردت تجربته في كتابها . مع العلم انها مالتقت مع احد من السجناء بتاتا بس تمكنت انها تجرب البذلة البرتقالية و تزور المستشفى القريب من السجن وتقابل الامام القائم على احتياجات السجناء الدينية ،انا قدرت اقرى الكتاب خلال ساعتين والتفاصيل الدقيقة اللي شاركتنا فيها  جدا شيقة حسيت لوهلة اني معاها خطوة بخطوة .

 

A book by  a Kuwaiti female reporter who managed to visit Guantanamo Bay prison,  this book have been on my to read list for a while but I kept on delaying it . As much as I'm proud of my Arabic language I don't have high expectations when it comes to Arab authors as not everyone manages to use it for their own advantage.

 

Reem have managed to visit  Guantanamo as the first Kuwaiti reporter which have examined somewhat up close, but you must note she didn't meet directly with any of the prisoners but she managed to try on the orange overalls and talk to their Muslim "priest" who was in charge of the religious needs of the prisoners. I won't burn the book for you as it's a must read and her detailed writing is quite exciting I somewhat felt like I tagged along in this adventure .

 

Perhaps the next step is to translate the book?
